ESPN專家斯坦（Marc Stein）據消息靈通人士爆料，小牛極有可能簽下今夏自由球員林書豪。

隨著艾里斯（Monta Ellis）加盟溜馬，朗度（Rajon Rondo）入主國王，小牛簽下喬丹（DeAndre Jordan）和馬修斯（Wes Matthews）之後，緊要的是找到先發控衛，林書豪成為上上之選。

小牛在年薪上可能無法滿足林書豪，而且少於其他很多招募林書豪的球隊，但是林書豪極有可能選擇加盟，關鍵是小牛現役前鋒「高帥富」帕森斯（Chandler Parsons）與林書豪曾是火箭隊友，並彼此建立了默契，這讓小牛在與其他球隊競爭中有望以較低薪資簽下林書豪。

現階段，小牛還剩下280萬美元的薪資空間，如果得到林書豪承諾的話，使用「延伸條款」裁掉費爾頓（Raymond Felton），再騰出260萬美元的薪資空間。

林書豪能從其他球隊得到更多的薪資，但小牛是他重點考慮的落腳點，他對小牛隊也有特殊的情感，在他成名前曾代表小牛隊打過夏季聯賽。
